Try as I might the last week, I had been unable to capture on my camera what looked at first glance to be a Monarch Butterfly.
Living in Ontario, Canada where Monarchs are native and pass through during the migration to the forests of Mexico, I thought it odd seeing a Monarch flying along the oceanside path.
Yesterday I was successful and got the Monarch on camera. It was a wonderful feeling.
There is a beautiful documentary about the Monarch Butterfly that we saw a few years ago at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. I can recommend it highly and will tell you that if you live along its flightpath and watch the film, you will be searching for milkweed to help support these pollinators. Even President Obama is a supporter of a Monarch Corridor from Minnesota to Mexico.
